Hello! I’m Ashlee (she/her). I am a Registered Psychotherapist and a graduate of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. As an Indigenous woman, I also have a dedication to working with this population as I deeply recognize the complexity of the multi-generational traumas our culture has endured.

I bring a calm and welcoming atmosphere to our counselling sessions as it is of upmost importance that my clients feel both safe and comfortable. I believe that strengths are fundamental to healing and wellness therefore I take a strength-based approach to helping clients achieve their goals. Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Accepting new clients for child (7+), teen, adult, couples & family therapy!

Hi I’m Maria-Ashley (she/her), a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Barrie, ON. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and have also completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and a diploma in general arts and science and organizational behaviour.

Embarking on the journey of therapy can feel scary, especially when uncertainty and self-doubt cloud the path ahead. It is common to feel overwhelmed and stuck. You might feel like you should have it all figured out before even starting. But here, in this supportive space, you don’t need to have all the answers. Together, we’ll navigate through these uncertainties with compassion and understanding.

I take an integrative and client-centered approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy (ET), Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT),  Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of my clients, helping them build practical tools for managing challenges while fostering resilience and self-awareness. I seek to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone feel’s understood and empowered. By building a strong, powerful and positive therapeutic relationship, I strive to guide individuals to navigate their challenges with confidence and ease.

Areas of Focus:

Mike

Hi, I'm Mike! I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Barrie and I am here to support you on your journey toward healing. I hold a MA degree in Counselling Psychology and have also completed my BSc in Nursing where I have spent the last 5 years practicing as a Mental Health Nurse in Simcoe County.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, as if it’s moving a million miles an hour while we struggle to keep up. But as one of my favourite authors, Carlos Whittaker, says: “We often say life is speeding us by, but I would beg to differ and say it’s us speeding life by.”

In the midst of life’s challenges, we sometimes need to slow down and be present. But being present also means facing what troubles us—something that can feel difficult to do alone. That’s where I come in. As your therapist, I will walk alongside you, helping you navigate those challenges with compassion and support.

I work with individuals and couples 14+ and offer a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to your unique needs, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy. Whether you’re seeking support for ADHD, relationship struggles, depression, anxiety, addiction, or burnout, I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space for growth. I also have a keen interest in supporting professionals in high-stress positions such as first responders and nurses experiencing burnout or trauma.

Cassidy

Hey, I’m Cassidy! I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Barrie, and prior to that I was a Registered Social Service Worker (RSSW). I have a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelors in Brain and Cognition, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Addictions Treatment. I’ve served in various roles/settings of the mental health field for the last 10 years. I bring to my clients what I’ve learned through education and employment, what I’ve learned from my clients over the years, and what I have learned through lived experience as a Queer and neurodivergent woman.

The theoretical side of my approach to providing therapy is eclectic and always Queer-affirmative. I draw from internal family systems therapy (IFS), person-centered therapy (PCT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, attachment-based therapy, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing (MI).  The “human” side of my approach means that I strive to provide care which is open-minded, non-judgmental, de-pathologizing, as well as oppression- and trauma-informed.

I have experience supporting clients through a broad range of concerns including (but not limited to): anxiety, neurodivergence, addictions/recovery, relationship and communication difficulties, assertiveness skills, self-esteem, body-image, life transitions, trauma symptoms, and more. My passion as a therapist is supporting Queer folks – whether we spend time with concerns specific to gender and sexuality, or focus on other topics. I see therapy as a space where we can name the systemic factors you are navigating, explore something from a new perspective, sit down with an emotion or part of you that needs to be heard, or discuss concrete steps for moving towards wellness. I want to tailor your treatment to your needs – whether that means talking in terms of mental images instead of language-based thoughts, re-naming your experiences or parts of self, crocheting together in session, and so much more!

Registered Psychotherapist

mental health counsellors in barrie therapy

Hi, I’m Megan. I am a Registered Psychotherapist and have completed a BA in Psychology from Queen’s University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I have extensive experience working with and supporting young adults, caregivers/parents, youth (6+) and families.

I have a cordial and calming disposition that fuels a nonjudgmental curiosity of human personality and behaviour. I fully believe that everyone has the best intentions and is truly good inside. The outward expression of "undesirable" behaviours stems from internal distress or disconnect from our authentic selves.

I offer safe, responsive, and compassionate support so you can feel like you are being heard and are gaining the information you require to move forward. Exploring all angles of the issue, including your internal and external world, is my passion. I guide you in identifying your current responses/coping strategies, why they may not be working and how we can shift them to be more effective to create lasting change.

I am empathetic and supportive and employ an eclectic and holistic psychotherapeutic approach, mainly drawing from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness approaches in my work with clients, based on their unique needs.

Robyn

Hello, my name is Robyn! I am a Registered Psychotherapist in Barrie. I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and received my Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in Cognitive Science, Psychology, and Buddhist Psychology. I also have experience working with youth with behavioural or learning disorders as well as with youth in the foster care system.

When starting with me in the therapy room, I try to foster a down-to-earth, warm, and personable atmosphere so that we can both be our authentic selves. Starting with a new therapist can be intimidating, so my goal is to help make you feel comfortable and confident that I am there for you and able to help. I do this through maintaining a positive, non-judgemental, and compassionate view of you as my client. It is only after this first phase that we can explore the reasons you came to therapy and the goals you would like to work towards.

Going forward from here is when I would use some tools and interventions that might suit your needs and style, such as drawing from EFT, CBT, Mindfulness, DBT, Gottman, Psychodrama, somatic therapies, and solution-focused therapy.
