Clinical Practicum Opportunities

Are you a prospective student looking for a counselling/psychotherapy placement opportunity? Well you've come to the right place!


We are an approved placement site for students of Yorkville University's Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) degree.  Students at our site provide virtual and in-person counselling services in Barrie to individuals and couples 12+ as part of our Affordable Therapy Program.

What We Offer:

  • In-person and remote counselling experience, including opportunity for initial consultations and individual therapy sessions

  • A friendly and supportive work environment 

  • Clinical supervision from a Yorkville University approved and CRPO qualified supervisor (note- there is a nominal administration/supervision fee to help cover costs associated with supervision and marketing/overhead)

  • Students can expect to receive 45+ hours of supervision (individual, dyadic, monthly team meetings)

  • Access to Jane App- our practice management software for online booking, charting, video appointments, and scheduling

  • Administrative support and client referrals through our marketing efforts

  • Onsite therapeutic materials and educational resources

  • Access to a library of continuing education workshops and courses

Student Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field; preference given to students who have a related Masters degree

  • Minimum 1-3 yrs of relevant work or volunteer experience in the mental health field

  • Registration with CRPO

  • Obtain professional liability insurance

  • Flexible availability with the ability to provide 1 day/week in-person from our Barrie office and virtual-only shifts scheduled at your preference; must be able to provide some evening/weekend hours

  • Ability to independently carry a caseload of 8-10 clients per week

  • Strong organization and time-management skills

  • Completion of continuing education/training certificates considered an asset (e.g., ASIST, Safe-Talk, Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Intervention, modality-specific trainings)

  • Motivated, eager to learn, and dedicated to their clients and practicum experience!

  • We will conduct interviews 2 semesters prior (~6mo) to your anticipated start date (e.g., Interviews for September cohort will be conducted the January prior)
