Hello, my name is Robyn (she/her) and I am a Registered Psychotherapist in Barrie, ON. I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and received my Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, majoring in Cognitive Science with minors in Psychology and Buddhist Psychology.
When starting with me in the therapy room, I try to foster a down-to-earth, warm, and personable atmosphere so that we can be our authentic selves. Starting with a new therapist can be intimidating, so my goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident that I am there for you and able to help. I achieve this by maintaining a non-judgemental and compassionate lens toward you, my client.
Once we’ve gotten to know each other a little better, I use an assortment of tools and modalities that may suit your needs best, though those I most often use are:
Emotion-focused Therapy; Relational, Attachment, and Family Systems approaches; Internal Family Systems (IFS); Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural/Self-compassion Therapies.
Change starts when we find the right framework and tools that work for you, and then find ways to implement them considering your current lifestyle, social circle, traits, and strengths. Therapy can sometimes be tough as we explore difficult feelings and experiences, but by finding new meaning with a trusted other, we can create a new relationship with yourself, others, and the world that helps you feel more in control, open, and strong.

More About Me
When not in session, writing notes, or doing some research, I enjoy far too many hobbies such as hiking, singing, playing softball, lifting weights, and the occasional video game. In the evenings I most enjoy spending time with my husband and cats, cooking a nice meal and watching a K drama.
