“Why does it feel like I've lost myself somewhere along the way?"

Your life looks great from everyone else’s perspective: a decent job, good people around you, and things ticking along just fine. But underneath that, it’s a different story. The overthinking, the constant push to keep up, and the feeling that somewhere in the busyness of life, you’ve lost yourself. You keep telling everyone you’re fine, when deep down, you’re not.

That's where individual therapy in Barrie can help. Together, we get curious rather than critical and help you make sense of what's going on beneath the surface, so you can find your way back to yourself and start living for you.

Growth starts here. Get started today.

Individual Therapy Can Help You:

When your mind won’t switch off, your body feels constantly “on,” or you’re stuck replaying every conversation, therapy helps you understand what’s driving your anxiety or OCD and gives you tools to feel calmer and more in control.

When you’re feeling flat, numb, unmotivated, or just not yourself, an in-person or online therapist for anxiety and depression can help you understand what’s underneath it and slowly reconnect with your energy, motivation, and mood, one step at a time.

Some things stick with us. Therapy offers a paced, gentle space to work through the trauma that you’re carrying, so the past stops running your present.

When you’re stressed, running on fumes, and it feels like you’ve got nothing left to give, we’ll help you find the calm, boundaries, and breathing room you’ve been needing.

If shame, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or perfectionism is taking over, individual counselling in Barrie helps you build a kinder, steadier relationship with yourself, so you can give yourself permission to take up space and feel worthy in your own skin.

If your emotions feel too big to manage, or anger keeps getting the better of you, we’ll help you understand what’s going on underneath and find healthier ways to work through it. This includes support with intense emotions and the relationship patterns that come with them.

If you’re constantly overwhelmed, forgetful, or feel like your brain’s running in ten directions at once, therapy for ADHD can help you build coping tools that fit how your unique brain works.

Whatever’s showing up with children, teens, partners, or friends, we’ll help you understand the patterns underneath, set healthier boundaries, and build more secure connections.

A death, a breakup, a career shift, becoming a parent, or just feeling lost about where you’re headed. Therapy for adults in Barrie helps you find your footing again and figure out what really matters to you.

Shift the unhelpful thought patterns that keep you stuck.

Build practical skills to manage big emotions and stay grounded.

Get unstuck and take steps toward what matters to you.

Slow down, tune in, and get out of your head.

Understand your feelings instead of pushing them down.

Explore how your history and relationships shape you today.

A safe, paced approach that never pushes you too far, too fast.

Work with what your body’s holding, and not just your thoughts.

Get to know the different parts of you and rewrite your story.

Access and work through the stuff that’s hard to put into words.

Questions About Individual Therapy

How often you come really depends on what’s going on and how you’re feeling, but in general, we recommend weekly sessions for the first 3 to 5 appointments to help build momentum and find some initial relief. From there, we start spacing things out to biweekly or monthly as you make progress.

Some people stay weekly for 8 to 12 sessions before they’re ready to space out, while others find starting at biweekly works better and stick with that pace for a while. We’ll work with you collaboratively to figure out a plan that’s right for you, and we’ll reassess as we go. We get that time, scheduling, and finances all play a part in how often you’re able to come in, so we’ll always keep that in mind. If you’re curious about our process, feel free to book online therapist consultations with as many therapists Barrie as you’d like.

The first session is all about getting to know you. We’ll talk through what’s been going on that led you to therapy, a bit about your background and history, and what you’re hoping to get out of it.

First sessions can feel like a lot; we often touch on a bunch of different areas of your life. It’s completely normal to feel unsure or not know where to start, so we’ll help guide you and unpack things as we go. There’s no pressure to share everything right away. We’ll take our time and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

If things have been feeling heavier or harder than usual, whether that’s more stress, more overthinking, or trouble managing your emotions, therapy can be a helpful space to explore what’s going on and find a way forward.

Even if you’re not sure what’s “wrong,” that’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out to start, and you don’t need to be in crisis either. A lot of people come to therapy simply because they want to feel better, gain some insight, or have support from someone unbiased and non-judgemental while they work through whatever they’re facing.

Our session fees depend on which therapist you see and the length of your session. Individual counselling sessions are $170 for a 50-minute session with a full RP, or $160 with an RP (Qualifying). If you’d like a bit more time, 75-minute sessions are $250 with a full RP, or $225 with an RP (Qualifying).

If money’s tight or you don’t have benefits, our Affordable Therapy Program pairs you with one of our Master’s Clinical Interns at $100 per session, so cost doesn’t have to stand between you and the support you’re looking for.

Therapy can help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns, so you feel less stuck and more in control. Many people find they’re able to manage stress better, regulate their emotions, build resilience, and handle challenges in healthier, more productive ways.

Over time, this can lead to more confidence, a stronger sense of self, better relationships, and improved mental and emotional health overall. Therapy is also a space for personal growth, helping you feel more empowered to make changes and live in a way that feels more authentic to you, so you can live a richer, fuller life.

Finding someone you click with matters just as much as their skills and experience. That’s why all of our Barrie therapists offer free 15-minute consultations, so you can connect ahead of time and see if it feels like a good fit. We’d encourage you to explore our team and book consults with as many therapists as you’d like, in person in Barrie or through online therapy across Ontario. If you’re still unsure, reach out, and we’ll happily help point you toward the right fit.

Individual counselling services is one-on-one time that’s all about you: your goals, your patterns, and whatever you’re working through. Couples and family therapy bring other people into the room to work on the relationship together. Many adults start with individual counselling in Barrie to focus on themselves first, and some do both at once. If you’re not sure which is the right starting point, reach out, and we’ll happily help you figure it out.

Both work, and it’s completely up to you. A lot of our clients love the flexibility of online therapy, since you can book therapy online and meet from the comfort of your own home, on your lunch break, or wherever you feel most at ease. Others prefer coming into our Barrie office for that in-person feel. Some folks even mix it up depending on the week. We offer online psychotherapy all across Ontario, so wherever you are in the province, we can support you.

Counselling and psychotherapy aren’t covered under OHIP, but many extended health benefit plans do cover psychotherapy from a Registered Psychotherapist. It’s always worth checking with your provider ahead of time to confirm your specific coverage. If you don’t have benefits or things are tight financially, our Affordable Therapy Program pairs you with one of our Master’s Clinical Interns at a lower rate, so cost doesn’t have to stand between you and the support you’re looking for.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here. The timeline of your therapy journey depends on your unique circumstances and your overall goals.

Many people begin to notice small shifts within the first few sessions, while more meaningful, lasting change tends to happen over time, particularly as you start to understand your patterns, build new skills, and apply them in your daily life. Consistency and effort, both in and outside of sessions, really help support this. We’ll be straight with you: adult therapy isn’t magic, and part of the work happens on your end too, but we’ll be right there guiding you through it.

In general, for short-term, specific concerns, you might expect around 6 to 12 sessions. For more deeply rooted, ongoing concerns, many people are in therapy for 20+ sessions, spanning several months to a year, or longer. We’ll work with you to find a pace that feels manageable and aligned with your goals.
