Are you a prospective student looking for a counselling/psychotherapy placement opportunity? Well you’ve come to the right place!
We are an approved placement site for students of Yorkville University’s Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) degree. Students at our site provide virtual and in-person counselling services in Barrie to individuals and couples 12+ as part of our Affordable Therapy Program.
Student Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field; preference given to students who have a related Masters degree
- Minimum 1-3 yrs of relevant work or volunteer experience in the mental health field
- Registration with CRPO
- Obtain professional liability insurance
- Ability to independently carry a caseload of 8-10 clients per week
- Flexible availability with the ability to provide 1 day/week in-person from our Barrie office and virtual-only shifts scheduled at your preference; must be able to provide some evening/weekend hours (virtually) & live within 30 minutes of Barrie for a reliable commute
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Completion of continuing education/training certificates considered an asset (e.g., ASIST, Safe-Talk, Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Intervention, modality-specific trainings)
- Motivated, eager to learn, and dedicated to their clients and practicum experience!
